Data Deletion Policy
Last updated: 1 March 2026
1. Your right to deletion
You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data and transaction records from SakuraPay at any time. We are committed to making this process straightforward and transparent.
2. What data can be deleted
Upon a valid deletion request, we will permanently remove:
- Account data — your name, email, phone number, company name, and authentication records.
- Transaction data — all payment records (amounts, payer names, phone numbers, reference codes, timestamps).
- Device data — device information, pairing records, and API keys associated with your account.
- Usage data — dashboard activity logs and analytics.
- Support data — records of customer support interactions.
3. How to request data deletion
You can request data deletion through any of these methods:
Option A: Email request
Send an email to [email protected] with the subject line “Data Deletion Request”. Include your registered email and company name.
Option B: In-app request
Navigate to Settings → Account → Delete Account in your SakuraPay dashboard. Follow the confirmation steps.
Option C: Phone request
Call +255 753 930 000 during business hours (Mon–Fri, 9:00–17:00 EAT).
4. Deletion timeline
- Acknowledgement — we will confirm receipt within 2 business days.
- Processing — deletion will be completed within 30 days.
- Verification — you will receive a final email confirming permanent deletion.
5. Data export before deletion
Before requesting deletion, we recommend exporting your data. Download all transaction records in CSV or JSON format from the dashboard (Statement → Export). Once deleted, data cannot be recovered.
6. Exceptions
Certain data may be retained after a deletion request if required by law:
- Tax records — Tanzanian law (TRA regulations) may require retention of financial summaries for up to 5 years. Such data will be anonymized.
- Legal disputes — relevant data may be preserved until resolution of any active legal proceedings.
- Aggregated analytics — anonymized statistics that cannot identify you may be retained.
7. Companion app data
Deleting your account invalidates the companion app pairing. To remove local data from your device:
- Open Settings on your phone.
- Go to Apps → SakuraPay.
- Tap Storage → Clear Data.
- Uninstall the app.
